Snowshoeing and winter hiking is like entering a different world. One experiences the quiet and peacefulness of a snow covered landscape. Secret views reveal themselves because the leaves have fallen. The busyness of the forest is exposed as various animal tracks are easy to find. Bethel offers plenty of excellent snowshoeing destinations, both directly from Bethel or farther afield. If the snow conditions or the trail allow, we may hike with microspikes.

What To Expect / WHat to Bring

Featured Tours

Intro to Snowshoeing

Learn the basics of traveling with snowshoes or microspikes on your feet.  Practice techniques in a friendly no pressure environment.  Tours depart from Bethel or various locations in or close to town.  (Local 2 hour tour)

River & Forest Exploring

Enjoy a tour farther afield exploring the natural beauty of the Mahoosuc Range.  This tour often affords closer observation of birds, animal tracks, and more varied scenery.  We have both flat and slightly more challenging options.  (Half day tour)

Alpine Adventure

Pack your backpack!  This full day tour will bring us to a mountain top vista.  We will bring both snowshoes and microspikes so that we have options.  While more challenging, this tour is an awesome way to experience Maine mountains in winter.  Maybe a Canada Jay will ask you for a bit of your sandwich! (Full day tour)
